Gambling & betting Restricted

RESTRICTED — general gambling banned under Criminal Code; only state-run Sports Lottery, Public Welfare & Uniform-Invoice lotteries legal. Online gambling explicitly criminalized (2022 amendment; fines up to NT$50,000 for bettors); June 2025 law adds life terms for match-fixing/illegal sports betting. Large illegal offshore market exists.

Crypto Restricted

RESTRICTED — legal to hold/trade but tightly regulated. Virtual Asset Service Act passed 30 Jun 2026: FSC licensing mandatory for all VASPs, only banks may issue domestic stablecoins (dual FSC+central-bank approval, 100% reserves). Not legal tender.

RESTRICTED — pornography production/distribution restricted; obscenity offenses under Criminal Code art. 235. Adult content age-gated; explicit ads not permitted on mainstream media.

RESTRICTED — drug & medical-device ads need TFDA pre-approval (incl. internet/social). 'Health Food' label requires TFDA permit; food/supplement ads cannot claim medical efficacy or exaggerate (heavy fines). Regulated by TFDA + Fair Trade Commission.
